On Wednesday, grain futures declined. The March SRW wheat contract closed at $5.92 per bushel ($218/mt), down 2.1% from Tuesday. The March HRW wheat contract in Kansas City fell to $6.14 per bushel ($225/mt), down 2.2%. The March Euronext wheat contract closed at €228.25 per metric ton ($238/mt), down 0.7%. The March U.S. corn contract declined to $4.97 per bushel ($196/mt), down 0.9%.
From February 1 to 19, Ukraine exported 2.3 million metric tons (mmt) of grain and legumes, compared to 3.2 mmt a year earlier, according to data from the country’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy. Since the beginning of the season, shipments have totaled 28.0 mmt, compared to 27.1 mmt last year.
Jordan will hold a tender on February 25 to purchase 120,000 metric tons of wheat. No deals were made in the previous two tenders on February 18 and 11.
Bids for 12.5% wheat in deep-sea ports fell to 17,300–17,800 rub/mt from 17,800–18,400 rub/mt the previous week, SovEcon reported. This marks the first drop in bids since the start of the year. Prices have decreased amid weakening demand from exporters.
