Grain futures continued to rise on Wednesday. The March SRW wheat contract closed at $5.62/bu ($201/mt; +3.2% compared to Monday). The March HRW wheat contract in Kansas City increased to $5.80/bu ($213/mt; +3.4%). The March Euronext wheat contract closed at €232.00/mt ($242/mt; +1.5%). The March corn contract rose to $4.97/bu ($196/mt; +2.4%).
From January 1 to 29, Ukraine exported 3.1 million mt of grains and legumes, compared to 4.6 million mt in the same period last year, according to data from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. Total exports since the beginning of the season reached 25.4 million mt, up from 23.1 million mt a year earlier.
Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture estimates Russian grain exports in the 2024/25 season at 57 million mt, Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut stated during the All-Russian Agronomic Conference.
The Russian Ministry of Agriculture estimates the sown area for the 2025 harvest at 83.7 million hectares, compared to 82.6 million hectares a year earlier. Winter crop areas are estimated at 19.1 million hectares, up from 18.6 million hectares last year, while spring crop areas are forecast at 28.8 million hectares, slightly down from 28.9 million hectares.
Tunisia’s grain agency purchased 100,000 mt of soft wheat at $261-263/mt C&F and 100,000 mt of durum wheat at $340-350/mt C&F.
