On Monday, U.S. grain prices rose. March SRW wheat closed at $5.59/bu ($205/mt), up 0.3% from Friday. March HRW wheat in Kansas rose to $5.59/bu ($205/mt), up 0.9%. March Euronext wheat closed at €227.25/mt ($240/mt), down 0.1%. March U.S. corn increased to $4.42/bu ($174/mt), up 0.4%.
For the week ending Dec. 5, U.S. wheat shipments totaled 0.2 million mt, below market expectations of 0.3-0.4 million mt, according to USDA data.
From Dec. 1 to Dec. 9, Ukrainian farmers shipped 0.6 million mt of grains and pulses, down from 1.6 million mt a year ago and 0.9 million mt in November, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food. Total grain shipments since the start of the season reached 19.0 million mt, compared to 14.7 million mt last year.
The Grain Exporters and Producers Union, close to the Ministry of Agriculture, announced receiving official notice of a change in Egypt’s wheat procurement process. Eduard Zernin, the union’s chairman, told Interfax that Russian exporters would now work with Egypt’s new state procurement agency. Previously, the union had taken a cautious stance toward the new agency.
