On Friday, grain prices continued to decline. The December SRW wheat contract closed at $5.28/bushel ($194/mt; -1.4% compared to Thursday). The December HRW wheat contract in Kansas City closed at $5.35/bushel ($197/mt; -1.8%). The December Euronext wheat contract fell to €208.75/mt ($234/mt; -0.4%). The December corn contract declined to $3.91/bushel ($154/mt; -0.6%).
Harvesting of Brazil’s second corn crop reached 94.2% of planted area, up from 82.8% the previous week, according to consulting agency Patria Agronegocios.
From August 1 to 23, Ukraine exported 2.7 million mt of grain, compared to 1.6 million mt a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. Total grain exports since the start of the season amounted to 6.4 million mt, up from 3.8 million mt a year ago.
