On Friday, wheat prices rose. The December SRW wheat contract closed at $5.52/bushel ($202/mt; +0.4% compared to Thursday). The December Euronext wheat contract increased to €218.75/mt ($241/mt; +1.3%). The December HRW wheat contract in Kansas City closed at $5.55/bushel ($204/mt; +0.4%). The December corn contract decreased to $3.92/bushel ($155/mt; -1.2%).
Ukrainian farmers have completed the wheat harvest, bringing in 21.7 million metric tons (mmt) of grain in bunker weight from 4.8 million hectares (mln ha), Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported.
From August 1 to 16, Ukraine exported 1.8 mmt of grain, compared to 1.0 mmt during the same period last year, according to the country’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy. Total exports for the season reached 5.5 mmt, up from 3.3 mmt last year.
Over the past year, 43.5 mmt of agricultural products were shipped through Ukraine’s “grain corridor,” according to the Ministry of Restoration of Ukraine.
More than 1.1 mln ha of crops were lost during the return frost in Russia, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture Andrey Razin. He noted that most of the affected crops were quickly replanted.
