Grain futures rose on Monday. December SRW wheat closed at $5.26/bu ($193/mt; +2.7% from Friday). December HRW wheat rose to $5.14/bu ($189/mt; +2.6%). December Euronext wheat settled at €193.50/mt ($225/mt; +1.7%). December U.S. corn edged up to $4.29/bu ($169/mt; +1.3%).

For the week ending October 23, U.S. wheat export inspections totaled 0.26 mmt, below market expectations of 0.30–0.55 mmt, according to USDA data. Corn inspections amounted to 1.19 mmt, within the forecast range of 1.10–2.05 mmt.

According to a Reuters poll, U.S. corn harvest was 72% complete as of October 27, down from 81% at the same point last year. Analysts attributed the delays to heavy rainfall.

Market participants estimate that U.S. winter wheat planting was 84% complete, compared to 80% a year ago.
