US grain futures rose on Thursday. December SRW wheat climbed to $5.13/bu ($188/mt; +1.9% from Wednesday). December HRW wheat in Kansas closed at $5.00/bu ($184/mt; +2.4%). December Euronext wheat remained at €189.75/mt ($220/mt; unchanged). December US corn settled at $4.28/bu ($169/mt; +1.2%).
The International Grains Council (IGC) raised its 2025/26 global wheat production forecast by 8 mmt to 828 mmt. The wheat crop outlook was revised higher to 86.5 mmt for Russia (from 85 mmt), 54 mmt for the US (from 52.4 mmt), and 22.2 mmt for Argentina (from 20.2 mmt).
As of October 23, Russia had harvested 135 mmt of grain in bunker weight, nearly 9 mmt more than a year ago, according to the Agriculture Ministry. Wheat accounted for 93.5 mmt (+7.8%).
According to FranceAgriMer, as of October 20, France had harvested corn on 75% of the area, up from 56% the previous week and 63% on average.
Soft wheat was planted on 57% of the intended area, compared to 27% a week earlier. A year ago, 20% had been sown; the five-year average is 43%.
