On Tuesday U.S. grain futures rose. March SRW wheat futures settled at $5.39/bu ($198/mt; +0.9% from Monday), March HRW wheat climbed to $5.28/bu ($194/mt; +1.1%), March Euronext wheat closed at €190.25/mt ($220/mt; unchanged), and March U.S. corn futures firmed to $4.38/bu ($173/mt; +0.4%).
Winter crop planting in southern Romania and northern Bulgaria is running well behind normal because of waterlogged soils after early October rains, the European MARS agency said. In northern Romania, by contrast, a moisture deficit is creating risks for winter crops.
From July 1 to Nov. 21, the EU exported 9.2 mmt of soft wheat, down from 9.7 mmt a year earlier, according to European Commission data. Export figures for grain shipments from Poland, Bulgaria and Ireland are incomplete, Commission analysts warned.
From Nov. 1 to 24, Ukraine exported 2.2 mmt of grain versus 3.1 mmt as of Nov. 25, 2024, the country’s Economy Ministry said. Since the start of the season, shipments have reached 17.5 mmt compared with 11.6 mmt by the same point a year earlier.
Russian farmers are selling grain and oilseeds at a record pace, likely reflecting a difficult financial situation, SovEcon said in a report.
