U.S. wheat futures edged higher on Tuesday. July SRW wheat closed at $5.17/bu ($190/mt; +0.4% compared to Monday). July HRW wheat in Kansas rose to $5.12/bu ($189/mt; +0.7%). September Euronext wheat settled at €204.50/mt ($229/mt; unchanged). July U.S. corn declined to $4.42/bu ($174/mt; -1.3%).
As of May 11, EU soft wheat exports totaled 18.3 mmt, down from 27.4 mmt in the previous season, according to European Commission data. The Commission noted that grain export data from France and Italy for 2024 is incomplete.
A state of emergency was declared in Belgorod region due to crop losses caused by frosts in late April and early May. The decree was signed by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
France’s agriculture ministry lowered its estimate for soft winter wheat planted area to 4.57 million ha from 4.61 million ha a month earlier, according to its monthly report.
