Grain futures fell on Monday. May SRW wheat settled at $5.97/bu ($219/mt; -2.7% vs. Friday). May HRW wheat fell to $6.16/bu ($226/mt; -2.2%). May Euronext wheat closed at €207.25/mt ($238/mt; -1.5%). May U.S. corn tumbled to $4.54/bu ($179/mt; -2.8%).

President Donald Trump said a U.S.-China summit could be postponed by a month due to hostilities in the Middle East. Trump earlier told the Financial Times that a meeting with Xi Jinping could be delayed if China does not take part in efforts to unblock the Strait of Hormuz. The summit had been scheduled for late March.

As of March 14, Brazil’s first-crop corn harvest in the nine main producing states was 34% complete versus 40% a year earlier and 33% on average over five years, Conab said. Second-crop corn planting was 86% complete versus 90% a year earlier and 83% on average.
