Grain markets were mixed on Friday. The September SRW wheat contract closed at $5.41/bu ($199/mt; -0.7% compared to Thursday). The September HRW wheat contract held steady at $5.34/bu ($196/mt). The September Euronext wheat contract settled at €196.00/mt ($230/mt; +0.4%). The September U.S. corn contract rose to $4.11/bu ($162/mt; +1.8%).
Egypt is winding down its domestic wheat procurement campaign as the harvest nears completion and purchases fall short of targets, Reuters reported. The government aimed to buy 4–5 mln mt of wheat but had procured only 3.9 mln mt by the end of June. Procurement centers are gradually closing as delivery volumes remain very low.
Russia’s wheat export tax will fall to RUB 56/mt ($0.7/mt) starting July 2, down from RUB 248.3/mt ($3.2/mt) a week earlier, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. This marks the lowest level since the tax was introduced in June 2021.
