Grain futures rose on Wednesday. The July SRW wheat contract closed at $5.74/bu ($211/mt; +4.6% from Tuesday). The July Kansas HRW contract increased to $5.71/bu ($210/mt; +4.3%). September Euronext wheat settled at €208.00/mt ($239/mt; +3.0%). July U.S. corn futures rose to $4.33/bu ($171/mt; +0.5%).
Algeria’s OAIC purchased 550,000–570,000 mt of soft wheat at $244.5–245.0/mt C&F, European traders said. Suppliers are expected to include Romania, Bulgaria, and Ukraine.
FranceAgriMer raised its forecast for French soft wheat exports outside the EU to 3.25 mln mt from 3.20 mln mt a month earlier. Intra-EU shipments were revised to 6.64 mln mt from 6.55 mln mt. Despite the upward revision, extra-EU exports are expected to be the lowest on record.
The first vessel scheduled to ship 180,000 mt of French wheat purchased by Egypt is expected to arrive at the port of La Pallice on June 21, Reuters reported, citing port data. Around 60,000 mt of wheat is expected to be loaded onto the vessel.
