Wheat futures declined on Tuesday. The July SRW wheat contract closed at $5.34/bu ($196/mt; -1.4% compared to Monday). The July HRW wheat contract in Kansas fell to $5.27/bu ($194/mt; -1.9%). The September Euronext wheat contract settled at €199.00/mt ($227/mt; -1.4%). The July U.S. corn contract rose to $4.39/bu ($173/mt; +1.0%).
Between July 1 and June 8, the EU exported 19.5 mmt of soft wheat, down from 29.2 mmt a year earlier, according to European Commission data. Analysts warned that grain export figures for France and Italy in 2024 remain incomplete.
A state of emergency will be declared in ten districts of the Rostov region due to drought, acting governor Yuri Slyusar announced. According to the regional government, more than 500,000 ha of crops have already been affected.
