U.S. wheat futures continued to rise on Wednesday. The September SRW wheat contract closed at $5.64/bu ($207/mt; +2.7% compared to Tuesday). The September HRW wheat contract increased to $5.42/bu ($199/mt; +2.1%). The September Euronext wheat contract settled at €195.75/mt ($231/mt; +0.6%). The September U.S. corn contract rose to $4.18/bu ($165/mt; +3.0%).
Dry weather in southern Ukraine during the planting and growing periods has led to lower yields of winter wheat and barley, according to a report by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. However, the poor crop in the south may be partially offset by central and western regions.
As of July 1, gross grain and legume output in Stavropol region totaled 1.3 mln mt. Harvesting was completed on 15% of the planned area. Average yield in the region stands at 4.04 mt/ha compared to 3.59 mt/ha a year earlier.
From September through June 2025, Kazakhstan exported 9 mln mt of grain, up 60% from last year, according to the country’s Ministry of Agriculture. The main export destinations were Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
