U.S. wheat prices were steady on Monday. The September SRW wheat contract closed at $5.38/bu ($198/mt; unchanged from Friday). The September HRW wheat contract held at $5.26/bu ($193/mt; -0.1%). The September Euronext wheat contract settled at €199.25/mt ($231/mt; +1.9%). The September U.S. corn contract declined to $3.94/bu ($155/mt; -1.5%).

A state of emergency was declared in two of the 31 municipal districts of Russia’s Voronezh region following severe thunderstorms with squally winds and hail on July 13–14.

For the week ending July 24, U.S. wheat export shipments totaled 289 tmt, below market expectations of 300–700 tmt. Corn shipments reached 1.5 mmt, exceeding the estimated range of 0.7–1.4 mmt.

As of July 27, the U.S. winter wheat harvest was 80% complete, compared with the market estimate of 82% and the five-year average of 81%, according to USDA data.

The share of U.S. spring wheat rated in good or excellent condition fell to 49% as of July 27, down from 52% the previous week and below the market estimate of 52%, USDA reported. The share of corn rated good or excellent slipped to 73% from 74% a week earlier, in line with market expectations.
