On Tuesday, U.S. grain futures continued to fall. Chicago SRW wheat for March settled at $5.10/bu ($188/mt; -0.2% from Monday). Kansas City HRW wheat for March slid to $5.19/bu ($191/mt; -1.4%). Euronext wheat for March settled at €190.25/mt ($222/mt; +0.5%). U.S. corn for March fell to $4.20/bu ($165/mt; -0.4%).
In December, Australia and Argentina exported 620,000 mt of wheat to China, Reuters reported. About 460,000 mt was shipped from Australia, while about 160,000 mt came from Argentina.
Winter crops across Ukraine remained dormant during the first 10 days of January, the country’s hydrometeorological center said. Soil temperatures at the depth of the tillering node stayed above the calculated critical winterkill threshold.
From July 1 through Jan. 11, the EU shipped 11.6 mln t of soft wheat, down from 11.8 mln t a year earlier, European Commission data showed. Export figures for Poland, Bulgaria and Ireland are incomplete.
From Jan. 1 through Jan. 12, Ukraine exported 0.9 mln t of grain, compared with 1.0 mln t as of Jan. 13, 2024, according to the country’s Economy Ministry. Total shipments since the start of the season reached 16.4 mln t, down from 23.3 mln t a year earlier.
