Wheat futures fell on Monday. The March SRW wheat contract closed at $5.69/bu ($209/mt; -0.7% vs. Friday). The March HRW wheat contract fell to $5.60/bu ($206/mt; -2.1%). The March Euronext wheat contract closed at €196.00/mt ($231/mt; -0.5%). The March U.S. corn contract was unchanged at $4.27/bu ($168/mt).
For the week ended Feb. 19, U.S. wheat inspections totaled 0.54 mmt, above market expectations of 0.25-0.45 mmt. Corn inspections were 2.01 mmt versus expectations of 1.20-1.90 mmt.
Algeria’s OAIC will hold a tender on Feb. 24 for a nominal 50,000 mt of wheat for April-May shipment. In January, OAIC bought 600,000-720,000 mt of wheat at $253-$254/mt C&F.
Turkey’s TMA will hold a tender on Feb. 26 to buy 350,000 mt of corn for March shipment.
Russia’s wheat export tax rate will remain at zero for a seventh straight week from Feb. 25, the Agriculture Ministry said.
