On Friday, U.S. wheat futures rose. The May SRW wheat contract closed at $6.04/bushel ($222/mt), up 0.6% compared to Thursday. The May HRW wheat contract in Kansas City increased to $6.22/bushel ($228/mt), up 0.3%. The May Euronext wheat contract closed at €235.50/mt ($246/mt), down 0.5%. The May U.S. corn contract fell to $5.05/bushel ($199/mt), down 1.5%.

As of February 21, planting of the second corn crop in Brazil’s Mato Grosso state was 67% complete, close to the multi-year average of 70% but still below last year’s level of 80%, as reported by IMEA.

From February 1 to 21, Ukraine exported 2.5 million metric tons (mmt) of grain, compared to 3.8 mmt during the same period last year, according to data from the country’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy. Total exports since the beginning of the season reached 28.2 mmt, up from 27.6 mmt a year earlier.
