On Monday, grain futures declined. The March SRW wheat contract closed at $5.29/bu ($194/mt; -0.2% vs. Friday). March HRW wheat fell to $5.29/bu ($194/mt; -0.5%). The March Euronext wheat contract closed at €189.50/mt ($226/mt; -0.3%). The March U.S. corn contract slipped to $4.29/bu ($169/mt; -0.4%).

As of Feb. 5, Brazil’s first corn crop harvest was 15% complete, up from 9% a year earlier, AgRural said. Second-crop corn planting was 22% complete on the same date versus 20% a year earlier.

For the week ended Feb. 5, U.S. corn inspections totaled 1.3 mln t, above market expectations of 0.9-1.2 mln t, according to USDA data. Wheat inspections were 0.6 mln t, versus market estimates of 0.3-0.5 mln t.
