On Wednesday U.S. grain futures declined. March SRW wheat closed at $5.38/bu ($198/mt), down 0.5% from Tuesday. March HRW wheat fell to $5.29/bu ($195/mt), down 0.7%. March Euronext wheat settled at €191.25/mt ($223/mt), up 0.1%. March U.S. corn slipped to $4.43/bu ($175/mt), down 1.5%.
Algerian state agency OAIC bought 810,000–900,000 mt of wheat at around $256/mt C&F in an international tender, traders said. They estimate the grain will be supplied from the Black Sea region and Argentina.
Bangladesh’s Ministry of Food agreed to purchase 220,000 mt of U.S.-origin wheat, according to official documents. This is the third purchase of the same volume since the memorandum of understanding between Bangladesh and the United States was signed.
Since mid-November, export prices for Russian 12.5% protein wheat have fallen by $4/mt to $228–230/mt FOB, according to SovEcon’s price monitoring. Quotes have dropped to their lowest level since mid-September amid strong competition from Australian and Argentine wheat.
