On Monday, U.S. grain futures fell. Chicago SRW wheat for March settled at $5.13/bu ($188/mt; -1.2% from Friday). Kansas City HRW wheat for March fell to $5.27/bu ($194/mt; -1.2%). Euronext wheat for March settled at €190.75/mt ($225/mt; +0.3%). U.S. corn for March slid to $4.42/bu ($174/mt; -1.7%).
For the week ended Dec. 25, the U.S. shipped 1.30 mmt of corn, above market expectations of 1.00-1.25 mmt, USDA data showed. Wheat shipments totaled 302 tmt, versus estimates of 100-300 tmt.
From Dec. 1-29, Ukraine exported 2.5 mmt of grain, versus 3.1 mmt as of Dec. 30, 2024, according to the Economy Ministry’s data. Total shipments since the start of the season reached 14.9 mmt, down from 21.5 mmt.
As of Dec. 1, Ukraine’s grain stocks totaled 20.6 mmt, up 20% from the prior month, according to the State Statistics Service. Stocks at agricultural enterprises totaled 14.2 mmt (+2% month to month), while processors held 6.4 mmt (+36%). Data on end-2024 stocks were not published.
